Admission to Our Denver Area Drug Treatment Program

NorthStar Transitions offers a full array of chemical dependency treatment options for you or your loved one struggling with addiction to drugs or alcohol. Contacting us for information about our Denver detox, residential rehab, IOP and day-treatment programs is the first step in your journey to a sober life. When you call (720) 477-6546 or contact us online, our admissions team answers all questions and assists you with program enrollment and verification of insurance coverage. The NorthStar clinical staff determines eligibility for admission on a case-to-case basis after review of an extensive telephone assessment.

Steps Toward Admission to NorthStar Transitions Treatment

  • Initial contact with the NorthStar team by phone or convenient online form
  • Insurance benefit verification by our admissions counselor
  • Discussion with responsible party about treatment costs & available insurance coverage
  • Pre-admission telephone assessment of prospective enrollee
  • Assessment review by clinical team to determine if NorthStar treatment is appropriate for client’s needs
  • Services agreement signed by client and financial guarantor upon acceptance into our program
  • Admission scheduled (usually 24 hours in advance)

Admissions Criteria

(Additional requirements may apply)
For admission to our Denver rehab, clients must be ambulatory, medically stable and capable of participating in all phases of the recovery program. Potential clients with a criminal history will be considered for enrollment on a case-by-case basis. Clients with Bipolar 1 Disorder may be admitted if stabilized on medication, and clients under treatment with Adderall, Suboxone and Vyvance will be accepted if they have a valid prescription. All controlled medications are turned over to the NorthStar staff, and medication will be self-administered under supervision by our Medical Director.

NorthStar Transitions does not treat applicants who fall into the following categories:

  • Diagnosed with active psychosis, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
  • Currently on benzodiazepines
  • Registered sex offender
  • Awaiting ruling on a sex-related crime
  • Convicted of a violent felony within the past five years

Preparing for Admission

Items you should bring:
Our Denver area rehab offers many opportunities for physical activity and outdoor adventure. Clients should come prepared with essential and optional items including:

  • Comfortable athletic shoes
  • Workout gear for yoga class & gym visits
  • Clothing appropriate to the season
  • Ski equipment & snowboards for participation in winter sports
  • Insurance card
  • Driver’s license
  • $40 to $60 per week in discretionary money
  • Computers, cell phones & books (except in residential treatment)
  • Toiletries (provided in residential care)
  • Discharge paperwork from previous treatment center, if applicable

Items not to bring:
Clients should not arrive with any of these prohibited items including:

  • Drugs & alcohol
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Pre-workout supplements
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Pornography
  • Any type of weapon
