Welcome to Northstar Denver

Intensive Outpatient Program

IOP programming is designed to fit with your work and family schedule. NorthStar Denver provides outpatient detox, clinical therapy, life skills education and peer support.

Denver Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Drug & Alcohol Treatment

Recovery programs for drug and alcohol misuse often begin with a stay in residential rehab, where clients receive detox treatment, clinical therapy, life skills education and peer support. For some families, a lengthy inpatient stay is not practical or possible. NorthStar Transitions offers an alternative for those who live and work in the Denver area: our intensive outpatient program (IOP). This convenient and highly effective treatment program includes professional rehab therapies and education that fits with your work schedule and family responsibilities.

Features of NorthStar’s Denver IOP

Evidence-based care and solid recovery training are hallmarks of all NorthStar drug and alcohol recovery programs, and our IOP curriculum is no exception. Lifelong client success is our goal, and our certified addiction specialists strive to keep clients on track and consistently working toward their recovery goals while maintaining obligations to children, spouses, parents and careers. IOP clients see an individual therapist weekly, and individuals requiring medical and psychiatric care for co-occurring conditions also have access to outside clinical treatment.

A typical IOP group session begins with an initial update. Individual members brief their peers on challenges they have encountered and insights they have gained putting recovery lessons into practice. Then, a certified NorthStar Transitions addiction therapist facilitates group discussions and exercises that may include:

  • Disease education
  • Stress management
  • Relapse prevention
  • Healthy nutrition
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational interviewing (MI)
  • Mindfulness
  • Life-skills training
