Partial Hospitalization/Day Treatment Program in Denver, CO
Denver day treatment, also known as partial hospitalization (PHP), is a drug and alcohol treatment format that is less structured than inpatient treatment but more structured than intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Day treatment is designed to transition clients closer to self-reliance: moving them from an intensive residential environment to a more independent level of care.
Implied by its name, partial hospitalization engages clients during weekdays and allows them to reside in sober living or at home during evenings and weekends. Standard day treatment hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and programming takes place at the NorthStar Transitions Denver outpatient office.

About Day Treatment in Denver
Most partial hospitalization programs start with a check-in and greeting time, followed by the introduction of a daily discussion topic. The group’s facilitator leads the activity, and participants then break into process groups. Lunch is provided during day treatment programs. During their time at NorthStar, clients meet with the facility’s psychiatrist or physician’s assistant each week for psychiatric assessments and medication management. Men and women in day treatment must be regularly drug tested to monitor continued sobriety success and encourage accountability.
